Algae thrives on phosphates, so removing them essentially starves the algae of its prime food source -- an innovative and safer method of algae control. This kit contains directions, small vial, reference chart and 50 test packets for measuring phosphates in your swimming pool water. Each reading takes about one minute. NOTE: Algae can be a problem in water with high phosphates even if you have adequate chlorination, filtration and use algaecides! Keeping phosphate levels between zero and 50 parts per billion (ppb) is recommended.
